How would someone go about porgramming for the SUPER NINTENDO console? Posted by jim_giboney on 18 Jan 2003 at 4:25 PM
I am somewhat new at all this, though I have a little bit of experience in programming. I want to know how I could program games for the Super Nintendo console.

1. What languages can you use? Any language? BASIC? PASCAL? please list!

2. How could you get a cartridge for the game to go on... could you use one with a game already on it?

3. What tools to use?!

Any help is appreciated, JIM

You can make games in whatever languages there are compilers for. There are always assemblers for the console. There is a GNU compiler for SNES that uses c code. I doubt there is any other languages.

For making SNES games, you'd need a compiler and an emulator. Depending on the type of game you want to make, you might want a map editor, graphic converters, palette editors...
