well man all u gota do is to relax and type modemtool under the console if it don't work startx and go to control-panel and run the modem configorator<br>

if this doesn't work do this:<br>
chmod o+rw /dev/ttyS*<br>
and then decide on which com port is your modem.If it's on com1 then write ln -s /dev/ttyS1 /dev/modem<br>

ALSO, if this is a Winmodem, it will NOT work under Linux. Just thought you should know.
