hi i am interested in making my own mp3<br>
player for my pc but i do not know where to<br>
start so could some one give me some <br>
tips on where to start and what to do..<br>

hey neil.. decide what u really wanna do.. if u want <br>
to make an MP3 player for WIN, u can simply use <br>
API functs (available here) in VB/VC++.<br>

Well i have some exp on c/c++.. i want to make a player using good old C/C++;<br>
the idea is to write a module to read and play.. but i can't find the <br>
SPECIFIC FILE FORMAT.. Can anybody help me..even if i can read it, <br>
where can i find libraries to play sound directly from interrupts/DMA channels..<br>

Try Fmod (www.fmod.org) if you want to make a mp3 player. Code included :)

You can use DirectShow to play Mp3s. Its probably the easiest way.

is there a way to decode (not play) an mp3 and get the decoded data using directshow?
