Looking for people to help with an MMO game project!

Looking for people to help with an MMO game project!

Posted by on 7 Jun 2008 at 6:57 AM

Hi all, this is actually my first post on here, but I was looking around for a coders forum as I had what I think is a really good and potentially revolutionary idea! hehe

Basically, without giving away too much information here as I don't want the idea to be stolen, it is a non-combat MMO game concept, which i don't THINK has ever been done before, at least if it has it wasn't done to it's potential!

Ok, if anyone wants to know more just send me a message or something, and of course people can post here but as I say I'm not keen about giving away lots of info to people I don't know as we all know how easy it is to have ideas stolen in this world!

Thanks all,

Hello,
My name is Shara Maude and I would very much like to make a game, but I know less about programming than my seventy year old mother, so I'm going to need some help. I am a writer, and I do mostly fantasy RPG type stuff, but what I am seeking to do is perhaps make an MMO or a large scale RPG kinda based around the same themes as Ralph Bakshi's Wizards. Why? Because it's awsome, that's why. Anyway, I can't guarentee anything, but if I could get some people together, that would be awsome!! TY!
Lead Programmer needed for OpenGL RPG demo

Lead Programmer needed for OpenGL RPG demo

Posted by on 29 Apr 2008 at 10:34 AM

(NOTE: It is not certain that Rising Tide will be published to the Wii.)
Wii is Copyright Nintendo

So far, our project has made significant progress with our art and design, but we need an experienced programmer to lead the programming team. We are looking for somebody to lead a team of programmers over the internet and manage the programming side of the game's development.

Our Team Name:
Rising Sun(unofficial)

Some information on Rising Tide:

Rising Tide will be an RPG similar to Windwaker in gameplay(puzzles, battle system, and Monsters). This project aims to add many new concepts to that gameplay, such as a class system with 5 base jobs and 2 branching jobs from this. There will be 16 dungeons to explore, each having it's own theme, monsters, and puzzles. They are planned to be very large and offer days of gameplay. The battle system we have planned may be one of the most interactive yet. The battle system will have a variety of skills each with different effects(double jumps, AOEs, DOTs, and a range of projectiles). The actual game world will be very expansive, with not only massive continents to explore, but also a moon and mysterious unknown realms. Players will be immersed in a world that is unique and different, a world that is charming and dangerous. The storyline is centered around the event of a divinity being possessed by a monster. It is based on a Chronicle that tells of a shadow world that is inside of the moon. Long ago, the shadow world was sealed inside the moon, but that the seal is not permanent, and will one day be cracked open, releasing the unknown.

What we are looking for in a lead programmer:

-Somebody that knows what they are doing and can give advice to junior programmers
-Somebody that has managed a project before is a plus, but not required.
-Somebody that can lead a team of roughly 10 programmers over the internet
-Somebody that has made a type of battle system before(a plus)
-Somebody who knows enough to create an engine from scratch(with other programmers)
-Artistic correlation(ability to communicate with artists) is a must

Programs used:
Programming:
---C++/C
---OpenGL

From the information we have so far, we have decided on using OpenGL to program with. We will be making a small battle system demo, which will basically be a prototype shrine(dungeon) with some monsters and a couple puzzles, and then sending it along with an animated trailer to a publisher so that we can receive funding for the project. After we receive funding, we will get down to business and hire professionals to help finish up the project(The shrine demo will be only about 1/30th or less of the total project).

Payment/Compensation:

Everyone involved in the project will receive a fair share of the profit made on the game. Before the game is complete, we will be funded by a publisher and then that money will be distributed to everyone involved in the project. How we distribute the money will also depend on the publisher.

Summary:
Target audience: all ages/PC users(possibly a console such as Wii)
Programming language: C/C++
Experience level: Senior Programmer equivalent(Anybody that knows what they are doing and are capable of leading a group of programmers)
Payment: Funds given by a publisher, and eventual extra profits will be distributed among developers(depending on the publisher's contract)
Looking for help on easy VB6 project,

Looking for help on easy VB6 project,

Posted by on 13 Mar 2008 at 4:43 PM

Hi
I need someone that is pretty good at programming and willing to do it for free. I say free because I cant pay upfront. but I can pay a commission when the program is put in place.

I apologize if the program doesn't take off. But on the other hand if it does it could pay pretty good for you.

Basically if your willing to help me for free, then I would greatly appreciate your help. And if things go well I would like to compensate you for your help. I helped a friend remodel his house for free, he sold the house 4 years later and gave me a check for helping him get more money out of his house. it was nice because I was not looking or expecting anything for my help. I am looking for that kind of help. hopefully only a month or two for you to see something back however.

Here is what I have:

I need help building a stand alone program, it is a survey program. I have an example of the program you can look at. built in VB6. it explains most everything. other than it is missing the fact that I need it to run on all platforms PC, MAC, Linux etc.

you can email me at Deanamyrogers@yahoo.com and I will email you the program forms and code so you can look at it.

It is a relatively simple program. the most complicated part would be; I need the program to upload to my web site the survey answers, after the person has finished the survey. the rest of the program is bullets and check marks and some videos that will run for information to the user.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Dean Rogers
deanamyrogers@yahoo.com
I am in Las Vegas, Nevada. if you are also, we can meet.

PS. I am willing to fill out a contract if you need one.
I own a Razer Diamondback 3G and i have the drivers but they do not help me. And i would really prefer just a piece of software that would JUST change dpi's and thats all !

Any Help Really Really Appreciated

Hi,

I am Amish form Outsource.techndu.Com

Recently, we have started our India office. I’m now ready to start doing some outsourcing of everything from simple scripting to managing a staff for a small number of clients who see the value in outsourcing coding, link building, directory submissions, copywriting, social tagging and a wide range of SEO services for a fraction of what you would expect to pay an American or UK firm.

From part time to full time with no health insurance to pay, no vacation time to pay for, no workers comp, no unemployment tax and at a rate that you couldn’t hire a good babysitter for.

In India, You get the benefit of hiring Indian workers working for you without the hassles of the time differences and the language barriers.

Of course we can deliver very fast on one off projects from simple scripts to complete database driven commerce sites, you just need to contact me with details and I’ll get you a quote but what we’re really wanting to do is become your extra tech staff and provide a wide range of services on a regular basis. We want to get into the employee outsourcing business.
Image Processing Application - help required

Image Processing Application - help required

Posted by on 30 Sept 2007 at 4:36 AM

Dear All,

I need to develop a Image Processing Application which can do OCR- recognition of typewritten text and ICR – recognition of handwritten text. It has to be done using C# in Visual studio 2005 environment. Although I am into .Net for sometime I am a newbie as far as Image Processing is concerned.
Specifically I require help in the following areas:

1.	Pre Processing of Images in order to improve Recognition accuracy. There are many processes like deskew, despeckle ,flipping etc. But which are the processes that need to be applied. Does it depend on the quality of the image. Is it required to apply graphics Filters, if so which are those.

2.	Dividing the Image into Zones i.e OCR and ICR.

3.	Retrieving the pixels from each element and feeding it into a neural network Library for accurate Recognition.

4.	Displaying the Recognised text in another Window for Spell checking and correction.

There are a lot of good articles in this forum but they give information in bits and pieces and it is very difficult(if not impossible) to put it all together for developing this application.

Can someone give me a total picture step wise as mentioned above. If someone, who has developed a similar Application and who has a good knowledge of C# comes forward to help me in developing this Application I shall be ever grateful to the person. In addition I am willing to pay Consultation charges. You may refer me some good books which covers this subject in detail and which provides code.

Posted by on 5 Sept 2007 at 10:17 AM

looking for any help I can get on converting a xml file that contains numerous groupings with numerous records to a txt format or a database format that MSAccess can read in.

Each record within the grouping may or may not contain the same "headers"

new to the xml thing. I am sure it is prety easy. I currently have a VB program that kind of does it but is limited to the contrains of excel.

I anm trying to create the "BLACK BOX" that will read an xml file (nokia GSM configration management file OSS4 version), offer up a "Process menu" so to speak and then output grouping specific txtfiles with a date tag that corresponds to each grouping and includes all the elements and records of that specific grouping

Naming examples of the grouping are like BTS, BCF, ADJ. Each grouping can contain "N" number of element up to max of N1. Each Element can contain "M" number of records. Each record can contain "Z" number of a headers up to a max of Z1.

I have a sample xml file to work with

any feedback or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Help modify an online game please!

Posted by on 4 Sept 2007 at 12:16 PM

I am hosting several (16) online games [Halo Pc.] I have the ability to uniquely name each server, using up to 64 spcs for the name. But over the years people have added ALT Codes into thier names to PUSH there serevers to the top of list. I did to. Now I find it necessary to push it even further to the top of list. I can do so by eliminating the unique names of the servers and Hex Editing each version of the executible files "Default" name.

And this works, kinda. I am limited in this manner to only 26 spc and I NEED more. What I have been trying to learn is how to place a "goto" to another location where i can utilize a longer name and then return to that loaction.

Could you share that knowledge with me or better yet a location that can teach me.
wanted to reduce the costs of running ERP applications on a Linux infrastructure.
The company's increasing hardware and maintenance costs were making it difficult to implement cost-effective solutions for its customers.
In addition, customers increasingly want scalable solutions that allow them to pay only for the capacity they use. Moving to a more flexible architecture would allow us to give customers exactly what they need, when they need it, while reducing its overall operational costs.
Great Forum - General Question Looking 4 Feedback

Great Forum - General Question Looking 4 Feedback

Posted by on 25 Aug 2007 at 8:22 AM

First of all, this is a greta section. It was just what I was looking for when I came to this board.

I have a small software company (5 of us) and we do mainly web development. However, my previous experience, and tru love, was in programming backend distributions systems. The opportunity is now here for me to develop my own based on the need in the markets I serve. The intersting part is, aside from myself, all my programmers are very 'green'. Their experience is mainly web exposure & knowledge of business needs is limited. I have my own ideas which I have been writing on scraps of paper & saving in a folder for years now.

Sorry, this is long winded & I'll get to the specific question in a moment. I had come up with the idea of putting something online where other developers could give their input on what they think would be critical, how they think things should be done, things thay've just always wanted to see or pet peeves about current systems.

The system we will be developing (to start after the end of the year will need to handle every aspect of the distribution process: A/P, A/R, G/L(maybe), purchasing, inventory control, order entry, ecommerce, etc, etc. Would the other programmer here be interested in giving input or feedback?

Ok, now the other question. I have decided to use Linux as the platform for this new system, for a variety of reasons. What languages do the folks here think I should be looking at. Keeping in mind that I don't have time to train my programmers in C or other low level languages. Their experience to date is mainly asp, vb, sql, some java script.

Thanks for reading & not bailing before the end!!!
