is there someplace that has a Delphi clone for download for free? or do i have to buy it from Borland?

They finally took the free version of Delphi 6 off their FTP, so all you can do is use the trial and buy it now (unless you can find someone with the free personal edition still available for download). As for clones, there was one for OS/2 called Sybil (or something like that) but it's nowhere near the same quality...and I don't think it ever made it to the Win32 platform.

thanks, that kinda sucks, anyways, is kylix the same only for linux? and where can i find that?

Yeah, Kylix is a combination of both Delphi and C++ Builder, and yes it's only for Linux (although if you don't use platform specific code, you can compile the source for Windows with Delphi or C++ Builder because the later versions also have the CLX controls). You can download Kylix from Borland, unlike Delphi there are free versions of it.
