use uCosII to get you started, for 8-bit systems, if you wish to write you own code...its a steep learning curve and the quickest way I can suggest is get an evaluation board where a Port for uC/OSii is available on it and use the compiler recommended for the port and just run it...you will just be stepping into the whole code just to see how it runs
