How do I control \ speed up multi-accessed wireless router ? Posted by trax on 12 Apr 2006 at 1:20 PM

I have a 2 Mb BT broadband line with a Voyager 205 router. This is connected by LAN to an SMC Barricade 'g' smc2804wbr wireless router.

The SMC has 4 LAN physical connections. I have 1 of these directly to my laptop (Acer 3022 with 10 \ 100 \ 1000 Gigabit Ethernet adapter).

There are 2 other pcs in the house using wireless internet from the SMC.

When we're all connected, the wireless connections get 6 to 54 mbps connections, and I get nothing (it says I'm connected at 100 mbps but all I get are timeouts) from a cable plugged into the SMC!

Should I connect a USB cable to my laptop, straight from the BT router - what speed would I get ? Would it help ?

Is there any way of restricting the other pc's access speed ?

Help me - please !
