Parallel Port Interface Posted by Ronald on 14 Apr 1999 at 3:41 PM
Could somebody share a simple circuit that would interface with a PC's LPT1? The circuit should be capable of doing I/O with the PC. Thanks.

Hi!

This is really easy...Get the pinouts of the
parallel port...some site like:
www.darkportal.com/cc
as I remember...
pin 1: Strobe (+5v) for running IC's
Pin 2-9: 8 bits Output (+5v/0v) Set bits on address: port &Hx378
next 8(7?) bits are input pins nomatter what any
reference says...read these pins at port &hx379
and &hx37A

you can output/input logic 1 or 0 on these pins
do not apply more than 5+V on input it will fry your controller, believe me I've tried it, and
do not apply motors directly on port.
You don't need any electronic, you've got I/O here

If you have any specific questions
help your self an write me a note!!!
