Hard Discs Posted by Wassock on 7 Oct 2011 at 2:14 AM
Hello - I'm a newbie here, but had my first machine back in 1959, so I know a little! Problem - I have a Dell 5150C running XP Pro, and it can't see the HDD. I switched it on, blank screen! The disc sounds and feels OK, but when I look in BIOS, in the start-up sequence it says "Disc 0: SATA Disc (not present)"

I had this happen on another machine around ten years ago, and I know there's a simple way of correcting the disc ... but I can't remember how, except it was in the machine (no external help). Can anyone help?

Microsoft Windows contains a Disk Cleanup Utility that helps you clean up temporary files and delete them from your hard drive. Heat is an even greater threat to a person's hard-drive and the information contained on it than viruses.

It is very likely that your hard drive is gone. Try to replace it with the new one.
