I'm currently designing a ecommerce website which will feature a great product. I've been using VB.NET and ASP.NET for a little over a year. Constructing the flow of the website (ie buttons, databases, formatting text),hasn't been problem. I would like to find out if anyone knows of a good starter website that will allow me to showcase high quality video, graphics and sound on a webpage to incorporate in my webpages.
I've been told that dreamweaver is a great option for this. Video and sound management on a website I have little to no experience with so if someone could point me to a good site or book that helped them that would be great.

JavaScript and HTML is a good place to start, I think you are designing a page or two; not a store. Some One who actually does eCommerce might be offended.

I was looking to host this website on my own computer through my own IIS Server. With a ecommerce feel to it. Allowing me to take advantage of my .NET Framework. The website will have the feel of a ecommerce site but I would like it to evolve and incorporate Flash and Video as well. Going back to my question is this the most effective and quality way of making a site that will be up 24/7 and take about 25 - 50 hits a day max?? The time frame is a issue but obviously I don't want quality to take a hit. Thanks for your response. If you could point me in a good direction that would be great.

Java and HTML is going to be the route I go on this. But I need to incorporate video and sound for a quality site viewable on all OS's. Although I haven't considered myspace as a option I will look at it. I believe it's going to have a little more then two or three pages. I want to incorporate flash as well thats why I suggested Dreamweaver.

Let me know any opinions or feelings about making high quality/efficient websites. All responses will be greatly appreciated.

Let's just say Microsoft has closed the loop with the .NET Framework. there are only a handfull of ways to host anything for under 10K, and I assume you are using a BETA or hand-me-down platform.

Qualityflash, java, VB scripts?, what else is in the woodworks? Yeah... this is all great quality stuff. Why not thow in some QuickTime and a massive event listener that leaves no stone unturned.

EfficiencyOn your end, the servers are usually designed to run a certain software; send and recieve, so many requests. The .NET is going to tax the primary microchip from time to time, but that's that.

The quality of a user's experience is often the reciperical of the overhead required to run it. The cleanest experience would be to stick with one technology. .NET can run Widows Media Extensions, so why not use that. The more modules you open, the more overhead is present.. ie java, QT, flash, and so on.
