tutorials for step by step advanced website development Posted by janicefernande on 29 Dec 2007 at 8:00 AM
I am a amateur website designer / developer. I realize after developing some websites that in terms of user interface and physical beauty, there are stunningly beautifull websites online. They also have a host of wonderfull features like site search, slide shows, news scrollers etc etc. i have an idea in this regard. suppose some advanced website designer writes a simple step by step tutorial to design 10 stunningly beautifull websites with a host of commonly used features and using best coding practices - an amateur like me could follow his step by step instructions to develop these 10 sites and learn all this at a blow. i could even put it in my resume as websites i have developed and have knowledge of. i hope my question is clear. please ask me for any clarification. do such tutorials exist online. or any books for the same. some kind soul should really do this. this is a great idea for web design help sites or authors. i am sure it will be a great success. thanks in advance for your time and efforts

Yeah, I think your idea is very true for many amatur designers/developers, and I believe there should exist such guide or tutorials over the web although a great one should be rare and hard to find.

Most of the expertise and knowledge should be built upon hands on experience day by day.

I hope the following site could help you a little:

There's just one slight problem with a tutorial, such as the one requested: Webdesign is partly a form of art. You can create tutorials on html, css, javascript, flash, etc. but the question remains: does walking through those tutorials make you a great webdesigner?
As far as I can see webdesign tutorials are in the same category as painting tutorials or writing tutorials: they can tell you tricks and teach you which tools to use and how to use them, but they can never make you an instant artist.
As with all other forms of art, only experience, sweat and blood will make you a great webdesigner.

Here's a great resource for amateur webdesigners: www.w3schools.com
It doesn't exactly show how to make the various features, but it does show the tools to make those features.
