How to solve "Delaying eth1 initialization" problem? Posted by gogo on 22 Oct 2001 at 10:34 PM
Hi,

I have 2 network cards:

eth0 -> pppoe broadband connection
eth1 -> 192.168.0.1 gateway for other workstations to have broadband sharing.

Everything is fine until yesterday. The eth1 was not brought up and showed eth1 "Delaying eth1 initialization". I cannot bring it up through command line or linuxconf. Most Worstly, I cannot connect to Broadband from pppoe.

How can I fix this problem?

I tried to re-plugged both network cards and init 6 the machine. Still not recognized.

I encountered the same problem one mth ago and I re-installed redhat 7 again. But, I had many installed software on the current machine and I don't want to re-install it again and again. Is the hardware problem?

Anyone could help?

Thanks in advance.

Did you have the kernel module for the ethernet card ?

You could upgrade you kernel with RPM to fix that problem.

re-install is not a good (the only )way to solve problem on Linux (not like other OS) :)

Could you tell me how to check the kernel whether it has the ethernet card module? And how to upgrade the kernel to fix it?

Thanks a lot.
