You can count me in!! I'm excellent with Visual Basic. What kind of game is this going to be? I have an awesome idea, to make an RPG with the real world statistics, e.g. The ability to make the enemy bleed or cause a serious injury. All attributes such as strength and speed upgrade on turn, depending on the move chosen. i.e. If you get struck by a magic Ice spell, you become more resistant to Magic and the Ice element. Also, I think it'd be a good idea for an RPG to use the environment in a way that in the dark, you're accuracy is lowered (unless you have night vision goggles equipped)

Keep me updated on anything that's happening with this, I'm very curious to know how we could work together, how is it going to work? Are we each going to have seperate tasks?

I'm really excited about your idea! I'm still beginning in game programming and I'm using XNA3.1 VB. Actually it's a college course and I'm forced to take it =="

now i am studiing directx9 for managed code and i want to make some game to improve my tehnique. if you decidde to use the net framework than contact me.
P.S. directx9 for managed code is more easier because is more object oriented and is only 5% slower, it has the avantage that you can write easily some code. there are some 3d engines too but i didn't have time to study them. i sugest using the .net and directx, but the main problem is to find an good story for the game and ...we talk an other time.

Ogre3D is pretty great. I'm a Java programmer, but anyone can learn any language really. I'd be interested in helping, but I've learned that I suck at designing 3D game servers.

Hi guys okay lets not just talk about this lets actually do this, I'm good in DElphi can do some very cool OpenGl tricks but I can learn anything, just let me know.

Good idea like this needs a starting point well i'll be the first with a theme for the idea, you guys know how all normal games have the same basic features well i suggest we try and give something extra to the game. My suggestion is either first person shooting game, multiplayer, let think big not just small. I'm with all the resources and brain power on here the world is our oyster. I'm currently working on an idea, storyboard i'd have to leave to someone else as that will be my main fall back but with a few orders i can make other things happen, and i think if we guys/girls put our thoughs together about the story board we be better of than letting it to one or two persons. Lets start like this I'll give my email addy here when you email me but in the subject "Newbie game". Put your attributes in the email, Name Surname Country Language and skills after that give ideas as to what you think and expect of the game. I'll give it a 5 days or so at least until i have all of the guys details that replied to the suggestion before me have replied then i'll send the list to everyone i received an email from, then we can go from there to start designing the enigne and charactures worlds objects and levels and storyboard.

Steps:
1. Descide on type of game, first person, strategy, racing ect.
2. We brainstorm on how to and what is expected of the engine.
3. We must then develop the engine this is the most important part of the development.
3a. while some of us are busy with the engine development others must start with ideas for the story line and so.
4. Then come the modeling and the putting together of everything.


Guys this can work i really think so and i'm looking forward to doing this project.

if you are interested in game developement try the game creators they have a game engine called dark GDK. it uses c++ which is not to hard to get to grips with. it is free for indy developers and is very easy to use.

I will help people with getting started and to understand the consept of game making but i do not have the time to help build the game as i have a lot of other work on at the moment.

Do you want to use the PS3 APIs or develop it in Linux? I have a playstation 3 that I've done a little programming for. I haven't ever used the Sony API, I've always used Linux.
