: : With this less theory. What would you be content with then? What would you be happy with?
:
: I would by happy/content with having enough to make sure my family is comfortable, while making as small a "footprint" on the world as possible.
:
: I'd love to grow/raise as much of my own food as I can.
:
: I'd love to build my own house using ecological supplies like adobe and straw bales.
:
: I'd love to live "off-the-grid" where all my electric needs are met by solar power and my water supplied by the rain or a well.
:
: I'd love to have no car, or if I really needed one, a fuel-cell electric or zero-emissions bio-diesel.
:
: I'd love to live further out in the "country" where the traffic noise isn't constant.
:
: I'd love to make my own clothes.
:
: I'd love to get rid of my television (but I'm addicted!)
:
: Of course, my solar-powered adobe farmhouse would need a broadband internet connection
Sounds good... but all these solar pannels and weaving machines are going to cost money. Not to mention building a house. So first you need to be rich.
In my Garden, I have a well. If I wish to use the well, I cant because the council say it needs a meter. It costs more to use the well than to subscribe to the water board.
Also Solar would be good. Unfortunatly theres not enough sun hours to support it in the UK. A hyro-electric damn would work out well with all the rain though..... but i live on a flat plain.
Also I live in the country. 1 shop, 1 pub, a church ( not that i go to it) a village hall. Thats that.
Theres no plans for broadband to be rolled out to either. :(
Saying that. The peace and quiet is good. I find it difficult to sleep when I stay in hotels in the city.
