Foreign languge Posted by lionb on 17 Oct 2002 at 11:08 AM
It's just my curiosity. I am not going to collect some data about your guys. Who can speak in foreign languages? I know about DarQ and ndapandula, English is their second language. How about the rest people on this board - leeos, infidel (I know his opinion about Spanish speaking people in the USA), all others.

Actually my opinion isn't about Spanish-speaking people, but about the fact that they can get by just fine -- and our government accommodates them fully -- without ever learning English.

I used to speak German, but it's been far too long to remember anything more than about a preschool education.

It is so funny that there are so many African languages than neccessary, the funny thing is most of them
are quite similar that if you know one you can actully fly in learning the other...you won't believe me when I say I can speak 12 S.A and Namibian languages....!Hahaa it's easy cos most of them are very close if not the same!

We call them Tangerine too. Never heard of Manderine. Dont wind me up on the Football thing!!

There is FOOTBALL. = original sport played with the ball on the ground.

Then there is AMERICAN FOOTBAL = sh1t game, blokes wearing pads.. loads of commercials running through the game... ball is thrown about ( where the use of the FOOT ).. really its a lame copy of Rugby.

But the cheer leaders are good to look at.

Tangerines are not the same as Madarine Oranges. Mandarines are like miniature oranges. You can get cans of them in any grocery store.

Why are you so worry about that? I am pretty sure that I am only one Russian speaking person on this board but I don't care about that. DarQ is right. Not at all. I stoped to watch Police accademy on # 2 I believe. I do not like to watch the same film more than 2 times. Especially that kind of film. I like comedy but not that one. If they are going to Moscow, it means the screen writter became to create soap opera (not art at all) not film. Stereo typing about Russia and Russian people? I do not care about that because it's somebody else's stereo type and somebody else's problem , not mine. I know that I don't look like western's Russian stereo type. That's enough for me.

Thanks.. I left Holland early. I was going to call in on Darq, but my early bath was quite unplanned.

Police accademy 7 is v. lame. I only watched it because i was waiting for jackie chan's stunt school to come on.

sometimes when you see sereo types in films its quite funny.

like... hugh grant in hollywood films is a stero type englishman.
like... jw pepper policeman in 80's 007 films is sterotype american.

all very funny.

It's funny if the is comedy about stereo type. But it's not funny when it's serious film and stero type appears just because screen writer does not have enough knowledge about countrry or culture.

Yes thats very true indeed. Im trying to think of a serious film where this has happened. Indeed i can. There is a new harrison ford film which is on at the conema in the UK at the moment. Ford's charater is a russian military. My friend said it was poor, because the script was full of " comrade.. dar comrade.. neit comrade " My mate come from the old eastern block when he was young.. so it pissed him off a bit.

Swedish is my mother tongue heh...though this will (more or less) be my second lanugage starting in January. Moving to Florida then and my only reason for keeping my Swedish up to date is that I want my son to be bilingual.
I also know quite a lot of German (only read, don't write or speak heh), a wee bit of French, some Spanish, some Icelandic and Norwegian and Danish (though this is kinda cheating, after all...they're Scandinavian languages).

Weee, knckebrd rules supreme! that's one of the things I'm gonna miss when I move heh

: Ha, my swedish end with Knckebrd!! hahaha
:
: : I would of never guessed :P
: : Danish is worse though...
: :
: :
: : : Sneaky indeed, my norwegian sis-in-law also speaks swedish.
: : :
: : : : : It's just my curiosity. I am not going to collect some data about your guys. Who can speak in foreign languages? I know about DarQ and ndapandula, English is their second language. How about the rest people on this board - leeos, infidel (I know his opinion about Spanish speaking people in the USA), all others.
: : : : :
: : : :
: : : : New here (DarQ's to blame for this ;) )
: : : : For me, as for DarQ and ndapandula, English is my second language.
: : : : Swedish is my mother tongue heh...though this will (more or less) be my second lanugage starting in January. Moving to Florida then and my only reason for keeping my Swedish up to date is that I want my son to be bilingual.
: : : : I also know quite a lot of German (only read, don't write or speak heh), a wee bit of French, some Spanish, some Icelandic and Norwegian and Danish (though this is kinda cheating, after all...they're Scandinavian languages).
