Agreed. However this software Ive found seems to not need a client. Unfortunatly when I came to test it this morning. It errors on loading.. but it was loading OK two days ago. Im going to reboot and see if it b/s or not.

How could it possibly do it w/o a client? Some kind of special packet? Like a reverse wake up on LAN?

Lets see.

I'll bet you that uses the same WMI stuff my link in the original post referred to. Nothing needs to be installed because the program only works with 2000/NT/XP which already have the WMI stuff as part of Windows.

It's actually rather frightening. Anyone with Administrator privilege on a computer can do all sorts of things to that computer remotely using WMI calls. Here where I work, us developers are in the Administrator group. My coworker and I can kill any process on any computer from VB or Python scripts.

Sounds about right for Windows... Just imagine all those installations not protected by a password available over the net...muhahahaha.

(Of course, I'm not responsible for what happens to anyone who takes my imagination seriously)
