I got the "FI of the week" idea from working in a retail electronics store. I swear, something as simple as a cordless telephone totally mystifies so many people. "You mean there's a battery in the handset?"

As you see not only "average American is well bellow average" and this is REDICOULUS. Actually, I am wondering. How about not average people. Are they well above average? I am not talking about not average people whose level of intelligence is clearly close to 0. And my question is not about only American. Speaking about Russian people, the population of well above average is not that large. How about you guys? What do you think, are you well above of average people from yours countries or ? I hope I am close (may be a little bit higher not lower!!!) to average level in the US and Russia .

Yes I looked at that guys profile too. The Sweaty Socks (Scotish) are a bit strange anyway... its hard enough to understand what they are saying when your face to face most of the time.

Also they have a BIG problem with English people in general.

I always scored high on standardized tests I even got some Advanced Placement college credit for my high school work. I like to think I'm well above average in intelligence. My social skills are dismal, though. Typical computer nerd I guess.

You are well above average, man. You were neuroscientist for crying out loud! The average american probably can't even pronounce "neuroscientist" let alone know what one is.

First of all thank you for credit. Second, I am not scientist any more. Third, I met a few scientists here in the US and Russia who had perfect knowledge and experience in their fields and had problem ( not physical problem of course ) to say who wrote Hamlet. At the same time, I knew one guy who was regular worker at factory but read Nitzshe and Shopengauer (not sure I correctly spelled name of those German phylosophers ) for fun. So, to be scientist/ former scientist do not mean always to be above average.
