: : Notice for for infidel who is not allowed to use that kind of Internet information from work:
author said that monogamy is a myth
: :
: : From my 'Jewish Russian former Neroscientist'

perspective, it's not a myth.
:
: Myth? No. I am monogamous, my wife is, I know many people who are. It can't be a myth then, by definition. I suppose if you want to get technical, doesn't monogamy simply mean you are with one person at a time? It doesn't have to mean the same person for life. Any talk about sowing "wild oats" usually turns me against the author immediately. That just smacks of purely selfish desires and the buddhist in me doesn't jive with that.
:
: Biologically speaking, I'm sure the animal nature in us is interested in spreading our genes as much as possible.
This is it! I never slept with other women since I got married. Before that ... but who cares about before. At the same time, I still have specific filling (you know what I am talking about) when I see nice beautiful woman. No matter how we call it (may be animal's instinct) it's still our instinct. So monogamy is a myth. We just suppress it following our human moral. Speaking about animals, some of them swans for example, are real monogamists without any moral
There are so many factors involved here that I have a hard time regarding simple dismissals (as it seems the article does) as even remotely valid.
