What dou you guys think about that article?

Notice for for infidel who is not allowed to use that kind of Internet information from work: author said that monogamy is a myth

From my 'Jewish Russian former Neroscientist' perspective, it's not a myth.

Having a full, active dating life has other advantages, too: It's a great way to make sure your wild oats are all sown before you commit to monogamy and it's fun.

There is No Dating here as such.So I will just lick my lips and
listen to what you lucky guys have to say on this.

Ah.. but that could now work against you. What would you do now if you found out your GF had another man on the side? Or 3 even?

Are you going to throw an exception? Apologies for the poor joke.

Myth? No. I am monogamous, my wife is, I know many people who are. It can't be a myth then, by definition. I suppose if you want to get technical, doesn't monogamy simply mean you are with one person at a time? It doesn't have to mean the same person for life. Any talk about sowing "wild oats" usually turns me against the author immediately. That just smacks of purely selfish desires and the buddhist in me doesn't jive with that.

Biologically speaking, I'm sure the animal nature in us is interested in spreading our genes as much as possible. There are so many factors involved here that I have a hard time regarding simple dismissals (as it seems the article does) as even remotely valid.

This is it! I never slept with other women since I got married. Before that ... but who cares about before. At the same time, I still have specific filling (you know what I am talking about) when I see nice beautiful woman. No matter how we call it (may be animal's instinct) it's still our instinct. So monogamy is a myth. We just suppress it following our human moral. Speaking about animals, some of them swans for example, are real monogamists without any moral

Ok, I see the point. I disagree, though, to some extent on the conclusion.

Are you trying to say that you are not react, if you see nice beatiful woman around? Excuse me but I do not belive you. It's absolutely normal physiological reaction! Lucky you, you are able to supress that interest but you must react!!! Period. Some people can control it some not (that cause divorce situation).

What I'm saying is that feeling a physical attraction to another woman does not mean monogamy is a myth. All it means is that biologically we might want to donate our genes as much as we can. Thankfully most of us are not ruled purely by our biology.

My opinion of the human species is usually pretty dim, but at least in this case I give the average human the benefit of the doubt.
