I need to learn how to set up a web server. Particularly a linux server. I am a computer science student but i am new to this field of web server development please help me to some process from start to finish

with Linux you are prety lucky because mostly you need to do a few mouseclicks and you have set up everything you need. It would be helpful to know which distribution you have.

If you are sure you don't have apache/php/perl/mysql shipped with your distribution then you can get a bundle there:
http://www.apachefriends.org/
(the site is in German but you needn't understand anything just download lampp and the installtion guide should be in english too
