C - not necessarily.
i know some people who know much of both and prefer to program in pascal..
now, C++ does rule over pascal along with OOP and the whole Visual environment..

if any1 disagrees feel free to say it!
didn't think so..lol
Assembler is the best

Yes, it is. But If you want to make some programs quickly and easyly, you can use Pascal.
I think that pascal is nicer and easyer than C but I see how many games and application is maked in language C. It is main problem...
For my 2 cents worth...

Its like this, the launguage that you feel comfortable with is probably the best one to use. And if you can afford a decent compiler then there is no reason why Pascal cannot be just as powerful as C++

...and yes, I program c++ aswell, but I prefer pascal because it is nicer to use. What do I mean by nicer ?
* Well The syntax for one thing is a lot more readable. Meaning easier code generation and debugging.
* Much easier to 'throw' together quick and nasty test programs.
* You can use ASM if you feel the need for speed.
* and many other personal (it feels right) reasons...

Come on all you c++ programs, give me a reason for using C that doesn't include the statement, 'because its quicker' !!! Computers these days aren't tied down as much by CPU speed restraints so why use the same old speed argument.

Any takers ???

The bait is cast...
I have been trained in C and Pascal.

Each has its purpose.

Pascal allows you to use other langauge,
ie. assembler in an IO operation.

I have Turbo Pascal, and will buy C and assembler,
at home.

Please can we keep in touch
: I have been trained in C and Pascal.

by repeating this phrase, you mean -
a.you took courses on it?
b.you learned on your own?
c.a friend taught you?
d.you bought a book on it?
e.you work at a company and they taught you?

bcoz the word 'trained' is quite a vague one when there are quite a few ways to learn these things..

yes of course

and therefore i prefer c/c++. i used to program a lot with pascal, but nowadays i think c/c++ gives more elegant code (pointer arithmetics are nicer, the for statement is more flexible)

besides, object oriented programming can make the development time much smaller. it's a fact (and i said _can_). but the object oriented extensions of turbo pascal are a joke.

on the other hand, i still prefer pascal to hack quick test programs.
