First you'll need instruction set references
http://www.intel.com/products/processor/manuals/index.htm
http://home.comcast.net/~fbui/intel.html

Then information about the PE format
http://win32assembly.online.fr/files/pe-tuts.zip
http://win32assembly.online.fr/tutorials.html
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/cc301805.aspx

And also a reference disassembler or two
http://ollydbg.de/
http://mirror.href.com/thestarman/asm/debug/debug.htm

And finally plenty of time for research.

Those are the resources I used when I did my disassembler:
http://www.hot.ee/anthrax11/leht/wdisasm.zip

I didn't get too far with it and haven't worked on it for a
couple of years, but I'm thinking of picking it up again some time.
