Suggestions... Posted by MT2002 on 9 Mar 2007 at 7:30 PM

Alot of times when searching older messages, I get the following
message within a post:
Sorry, this message is more than a year old and has been archived.

Therefore, we are unable to accept any further replies to it.

The problem is that the replies to that message are nonexistant.
This makes it harder, because we would have to search for the
replies to the message (And hope to find it using the forums
search feature).

I think it would be great for the site if the replies to the
older posts were still in the archived posts (While not allowing
any more replies).

This is just a possible suggestion.

Also, would it be possible to (at least) support a tag simular
to HTML's anchor <a> tag? I feel this would make the forums'
messages look alot nicer, as when reading posts, we could see
a simple link, rather then a *large* (possibly 2 line) HTTP
address.

These are some ideas.

Thanks!

Hi

Probably within 1-2 weeks we will replace this forum with a brand new version of the forum rewritten in ASP.Net

It will solve all those annoyances..

It would also be helpful to include an option in the "Lastest posts"-list to filter them on the favorite boards. That way people who are specialized in a few languages can get the lastest posts on the boards for those languages.
It might also help if you included the time of the post. Then users can check if they already have seen a post or not.

Good point, will add to the todo list!

I apologize for adding to the list

Sometimes throught this site when clicking a link, I am taken to a
page-sized advertisment, and have to refresh the page in order to
go to the correct page.

I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this?

Thanks -- and for adding the link tag

Link tag is surely useful and is very necessary. And if a new asp.net forum is going to replace this one, it will be great news. However, I just want to know if all old threads will be migrated as well or just a new empty forum to start with?

You're *using* the new ASP.NET forum. And yes, of course, we migrated everything.

Oh, yeah, then I believe we're just going to have a new design for it. :)
