MIDI under DirectMusic Posted by Racso on 6 Jan 2001 at 9:57 PM

Is there a relatively simple way to play a standard MIDI file using DirectMusic? If there is, can
someone please give me a list of API functions or possibly even psuedocode? Thanks in advance!

First of all I think you mean DirectSound !? Then you should know that DirectX does not support MIDI-Streaming. But you can use the Win-API functions instead.

For those of you who don't know, DirectMusic is a DirectX interface for using midi devices directly rather than through MCI, and is present from around DX7, or DX6, I'm not exactly sure(not much compatibility either way). There's not much data on DirectMusic in the MSDN, which is the usual source for any DX programming help, but there are some tutorials on using it around the web, just look for 'em.
