SQL Script to SQL Server DB Posted by ITA on 16 Feb 2004 at 1:09 PM
I have a SQL Server script (*.sql). I want to change this into a SQL Server DB. How do I go about this?

[I'm a complete n00b - I've never used SQL b4]

Please help. Many thanks.

open the Query analyzer and connect to your server, once there open the sql file with the file menu, and then execute it.

C:\Dos
C:\Dos Run
Run Dos Run

I'm using MSDE (the developer version of SQL Server)
What's the query analyzer and how do I get to it?
How do I connect to the server?

PS - the server starts up when the OS starts

you will need to install the client tools as well as the server tools, I think then you should have access to the query analyzer(it's basicly a enviroment that you can write and execute your scripts in)

C:\Dos
C:\Dos Run
Run Dos Run

You can execute scripts that will create the db, but as for the sql file you have, I would have to see it to tell you that.

C:\Dos
C:\Dos Run
Run Dos Run

if you give me an address I'll send it to you...

you could use the progheaven(i.e here) mail service to tell me the address if this is too public.

Many thanks again.
