I want to know how to get the names of computers connected to the lan.
I require this as a part of my semester project .
eg:if adv36 is reachable from my system then without knowing the name of the computer i must be able to get the reachable computers name with in the intranet.

I'm not too sure, but I think the arp request may give you that kind of information. Before you ask I will not give you any more help then this for this is your school work.
