locking down windows Posted by bigtwenty on 24 Feb 2007 at 9:27 PM
This is what i need:

*Once a specified user signs in, Internet explorer will automatically load.

* The user cannot use the alt key, (to use alt+ctrl+del alt+tab or alt+esc)

* The user cannot use the Windows key

* The user cannot use the esc key

* The user cannot see the taskbar.

* IE must always be ontop

* The user cannot minimize or close out internet explorer

* Basically, I only want the specified user, upon login, to only use IE.

* But it would be really helpful if i could still log out the user

somehow. With a key config prompted with a password rather than just a

hard shut-down

I would really appreciate any help what so ever.

I know how to make IE startup upon log in. The rest, Sucks. PLease
help. thank you - bigtwenty.

Sounds like you are making adware or malware or some other annoyance, otherwise there would be no reason to lock out the user from his own computer.

No, actually, I have to lockdown a Computer in a store-front. I only want Customers to be able to surf the web, Not browse anything on the computer. What is the safest way to do this?

I believe there are limited versions of Windows out there for such purposes, I remember seeing one in a library.

Answering your question would make the solution available to those who are making such programs. And I doubt everything you wish to do is possible without modifying Internet Explorer.
