Locking Windows ME Posted by 9725644 on 29 Aug 2001 at 8:41 AM
Hi.
I have Windows ME installed on my stand-alone machine, and want to set it up so no one else can use it. When you set up users, anyone can still use the computer by pressing cancel and just logging in to the default settings. I want some way so that if the person does not have the password they will have no access to the computer at all.

Thanks
Giant

Hi!

There are some freeware utilities out there that will do what you want. Just search the web, and you'll get dozens of choices.

Hi!

Here are some:

http://www.softheap.com/wlock.html (Windows LockUp)

http://www.segobit.com/ml.htm (Mouse Lock)

http://posum.com/ has a few different products.

http://www.bootlocker.com/

This link has a whole page of different security programs:

http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Software/Shareware/Windows/Utilities/Security/Password_Protection/

These links were obtained from Google, by searching for: windows password lock

I have not tried any of the above products, so this is just a reference, not an endorsement.

Melissa
