How to resolve -69 error while syncing iPod on Mac computer

iPod errors can be too hard to comprehend and resolve. The occurrence of various error codes leaves you irritated as your iPod and iTunes fail to work properly. And, in worst cases, your iPod content becomes inaccessible. One of the nagging errors with Mac iPods is error (-69). This error message won't let you update your iPod and the sync process fails abruptly. The reason behind its appearance is the presence of unusable files or corrupt files. In such situations you can follow certain steps (discussed later in the article) and get rid off the error message. But, what if you cannot overcome the error by implementing corrective methods? The best option lies in restoring your iPod. Restoration, undoubtedly, acts as a powerful solution but it erases all the data from your iPod. In order to reload the content to your iPod you can choose between an updated backup or a Mac iPod recovery software. These tools work perfectly fine and are reliable options to recover lost or deleted iPod data.

Consider a situation, wherein, you have iPod Classic for all your entertainment needs. One fine morning, when you make an attempt to sync music and other files to your iPod on a Mac computer, you might receive the following error message:

"Attempting to copy to the disk failed. An unknown error occurred (-69)"

After encountering the above error message on repeated attempts, you might think of restoring your iPod. Wait! You must first understand the causes and then proceed with the alternate steps (Resolution section) to fix your erring iPod.

Cause

The sync process gets terminated abruptly when iTunes tries to send some corrupt or unusable files to your iPod Classic. Thus, it is very important to know which file or files is causing the above error message to appear.

Resolution

In order to perform Mac iPod recovery, you must follow the below-mentioned steps carefully:

Update to the latest version of iTunes On a Mac computer, control-click on your iPod icon and select Sync Songs Carefully observe the top of the iTunes window. You should get the name of the damaged file right before the appearance of the error message. As soon as you find the file or files, remove it from the list of the songs to be synced with your iPod. Again select the iPod in the Source Pane Click Summary If your iPod is configured to update automatically, then select the 'Sync only checked songs and videos' option If the bad file is a song, then select Music in the iTunes Source pane, and if it is a video, then select Movies. Uncheck the file name Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to update your iPod Classic. If you have more than one bad file then you have to repeat the whole process.

If you still encounter the same error message while syncing your iPod with iTunes, then you must consider restoring your iPod, followed by immediate Mac iPod recovery using a professional software like Stellar Phoenix iPod Recovery. This application has been designed to recover lost or deleted iPod content regardless of the data loss incident. You can use this application's Mac version to recover songs, audio books, podcasts, videos etc. Being read-only, the Mac iPod recovery software doesn't harm or modify the original data.
