How to fix 'The iPod could not be updated because the firmware file was corrupt' error

Have you encountered an error message while updating your iPod with Mac computer? One one hand, updating an iPod is an easy procedure, on the other, it is one task which can make you go crazy with frustration. Wondering how? It has been observed that many users receive one or the other error message while syncing their iPods on Mac computers. This article discusses one of the many issues you might come across while uploading your favorite content on an iPod. Information is also provided on how to compensate the data loss by using a Mac iPod recovery software, if need arises to restore an iPod.

Consider a scenario, wherein, you have iPod Classic with you. You connect the iPod to a Mac computer in order to download new tracks, videos, some audio books etc, but you fail to do so and receive the following error message:

"The iPod "customer's iPod" could not be updated because the firmware file was corrupt."

Due to the error message, the iPod cannot be updated.

Cause

You might think that there is some issue with your iPod. However, the error message has something else to say. As per the error, there is no issue with the iPod but with the iTunes which is unable to read the iPod software update.

Resolution

In order to resolve the problem, you must delete the folder which contains the files for the iPod software update and download a new copy of the iPod software. Here are the steps to be taken:

• Eject your iPod and close iTunes • In your Mac computer, use Disk Utility to check any issues with your hard drive • You can locate the iPod software at the following location in your Mac computer: /Users/username/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates • Move the iPod Software Updates folder to the Trash Bin • Connect iPod and open iTunes. Download the updated files • After downloading the files, sync again and update your iPod • If the error message persists, then restore your iPod and perform Mac iPod recovery using an efficient third-party software.

Mac iPod recovery tools are developed to help you recover lost or deleted data from your iPods in an easy manner.
