Windows crash with STOP: C0000221 unknown hard error message

Sometimes, when you are downloading data from internet, your system hangs. In most of system halting scenarios, most of the computer users are forced to shutdown their system forcefully. After the above circumstances concurrently occur, you encounter an STOP error message that makes the data stored in your hard drive inaccessible. An ideal way to overcome these data loss situations is by restoring the data from an updated and valid backup. However, if no backup is available or backup is unable to restore the preferred data, then the best option left is to use advanced partition recovery software that can recover your lost data.

As a practical case, you encounter a complete system crash when you were downloading songs from internet. When you restart your system, you encounter the below error message:

“Stop: c0000221 Unknown Hard Error \SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll”

All the files and folders stored in your hard drive become inaccessible after the above error message appears. Furthermore, you encounter the same error message even after you attempt to boot your system in the safe mode.

Cause:

The root cause for the occurrence of the STOP error message is the corruption or damage of ntdll.dll file. This is one of the critical files located at c:\winnt\system32 and is required by Windows to boot. Corruption in this file primarily occurs due to virus infection.

Resolution:

To troubleshoot and resolve the above STOP error message, you will need to boot your system by using Windows boot CD. If the problem still persists, then the best option to resolve the above STOP error message is to reinstall Windows. A fresh reinstall of Windows deletes all the data stored on the hard drive partition or volume. For comprehensive recovery of data after reinstallation process is over, you will need to use effective partition recovery application. Such file recovery applications employ high end scanning methods to provide complete recovery of lost data. Built with highly graphical user-interface and incorporated advanced features, these data recovery tools serve as recovery centric tools.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery Services is a flawless file recovery utility that is compatible with FAT32, VFAT, NTFS and NTFS5 file systems. I feel stupid. This dll file was causing Winamp to crash, so I deleted the ntdll.dll and replaced it with a copyI downloaded. Musn't have worked. Now I get BSOD on every start up but at least I know the cause.
