Moving Hard Drive to Another Computer Causes Partition Loss in Windows XP

Microsoft Windows operating system enables you to move your working Windows hard drive from one computer to another and access it. It helps you to have two different hard drives with different operating systems, for the same computer. When you attach your hard drive to another computer, it is easily accessible and bootable. However, under some situations, you can not boot your system after moving your hard drive from one system to another. You get boot errors while starting your computer and boot process gets halted. This behavior renders all your Windows hard drive partitions inaccessible and causes serious partition loss situations. In such circumstances, you need to opt for partition recovery software to retrieve lost partitions. After moving your Windows XP hard drive, which is a boot or system device, to the backup computer, you may encounter the below error message while trying to boot system:

“STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF741B84C,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000) INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE”

The boot process is terminated with this error message. The error occurs every time you try to boot your system. This behavior does not let you access the hard drive partitions and partition recovery becomes need of hour. Root of the issue

The problem may take place due to any of the below reasons:

Registry entries and drivers for mass storage controller hardware on backup system aren't installed in MS Windows XP.

Your Windows computer is infected by serious boot sector virus, which has damaged or corrupted the boot sector. The system or boot volume of your system is corrupted and it can not be initialized by Microsoft Windows XP operating system. If file system is damaged and Windows XP can not initialize boot volume during startup, you face this behavior.

Resolution

You can try to resolve the problem and performing Windows partition recovery using the below steps:

Use same hardware for backup computer. Use an updated and powerful anti-virus application to detect and remove boot sector viruses. Use Chkdsk utility to repair damaged boot volume. Format Windows hard drive and reinstall operating system.

Formatting the Windows hard drive removes all the partitions from it and causes severe partition loss. In such cases, partition recovery software help you to recover lost Windows partitions and store lost data. They easily and safely recover lost partitions in all cases of partition loss.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is the most comprehensive and powerful utility to ensure absolute recovery of lost partitions. The software recovers all NTFS5, NTFS, FAT32, VFAT, FAT16, and FAT12 file system partitions. It works well with Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, 2003, XP, and 2000.
