Partition recovery solution in case of corrupt file system index error

Working on a Windows system is very common and almost all users are well acquainted in dealing with common functionality based errors on Windows. However, while, chances are there that the error may lead to loss or inaccessibility of your valuable data in different file system based partitions in the system hard disk, the particular error becomes a more serious one. Moreover critical file system corruption errors resulting in partition loss or inaccessibility, are never easy to handle on the parts of normal users. Such situations demand more sophisticated technology, such as partition recovery to recover back the data.

While attempting to open, rename or delete a file using any file manager or command prompt, an error message may pop-up leaving the data completely inaccessible. The error message may read any of of the following:

Error:

<drive>:\<folder> is not accessible. OR The file or directory is corrupt and non-readable.The file or directory is corrupt and non-readable. OR The file or directory \<folder> is corrupt and unreadable. Please Run the Chkdsk utility.

Cause:

The reason behind the above errors may be a possible damage in the file, folder, file allocation table or in the file system index.

Resolution:

1.Try repairing the damaged folder, file allocation table, file system index or the file itself using the command utility 'Chkdsk'. Follow the below steps for the same: 2.Click on the START button, and then click on RUN. 3.Then type the command 'chkdsk/f <drive> on the dialog box and press OK.

Note: Here, the drive represents the letter of the disk drive, in which the damaged particular file/folder/file system index exists. For a large hard disk, the process may range from several minutes to several hours.

It is most likely that such errors are resolved through repairing by 'chkdsk'. However, sometimes, chkdsk with '/f' option may result in data loss. Hence, if 'chkdsk' fails to resolve the errors or there is any further loss of data, then you have to recover the same from the updated backup, absence of which leaves the only way to take the help of any partition recovery software.

Partition recovery software are in a way innovative inventions to check for the lost or damaged partitions and thereby recover the data from them. The software have Windows like user interfaces and moreover, come with instructions to complete the recovery process successfully.
