Resolving “Data error reading drive C” in Microsoft Windows

Sometimes when you start your Windows computer or while working on it, the operating system can not read the drive and shows some error messages. If the problem occurs with C drive, then system does not boot up and all of the data stored on your Windows hard drive become inaccessible. This behavior results into critical data loss situations and require Data Recovery to be fixed. Recovery is possible in most of such situations using appropriate tools and techniques.

In a practical scenario, when you try to start your Windows computer, it does not boot in normal mode. If you boot the system in safe mode, you encounter below given error message and the boot process gets terminated:

"Data error reading drive C. Abort, Retry, Fail"

When you boot the system in command mode and run ChkDsk, you encounter same error message along with following error:

“Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)”

When you select 'Y', the ChkDsk does not run on reboot. In these circumstances, you need to find out the cause of this behavior and go for appropriate solution to get your mission critical data back.

Resolution

In order to sort out this problem, go through following steps: Make sure that your hard drive ribbon cable and power connector are connected properly. In BIOS (Basic Input/Output System), ensure that correct settings are selected for drive and enable the hard disk and floppy controllers. (You are recommended to enable Auto Detect settings). Swap the hard drive controller card, entire hard drive or cable, one at a time. Scan hard drive for viruses using third party anti virus software. Format the hard drive, reinstall operating system and then try to reboot the system.

When all else fails, go for data recovery solutions. In case of hard drive formatting, virus infection or other logical issues, partition recovery software can help you to recover lost data. These are advanced third party applications which use high-end scanning techniques to ensure absolute recovery.

However, in case of lost, corrupted or deleted NTFS and NTFS5 file system , go for ntfs recovery services. This is a personalized and sophisticated help, delivered through safe and sterile surroundings of Clean Rooms using cutting-edge technologies.
