STOP Errors in Windows XP while booting

A STOP error is nothing but an eight digit hexadecimal code that appears on the blue screen when Windows faces a serious problem from which it cannot recover. It is generally caused due to hardware or software related issues. One major hazard of a STOP error message is that it does not let the system boot and renders the hard drive data inaccessible. To resolve the problem, you can perform some troubleshooting methods. However, if the problem does not get resolved even after troubleshooting, then re-installing the operating system is required, which leads to data loss. In such situations, you should use a powerful Recovery Software to retrieve all your hard drive data.

Picture a situation – One fine day, you try to boot your Windows XP based system and suddenly the system displays a blue screen with any of the following STOP error messages:

“Stop: 0x0000000A”

“Stop: 0x00000001”

“Stop: 000000ED”

“STOP: 0x0000009F”

After any of these STOP error greets you, the booting process of the system halts. Even rebooting the system does not help.

What causes a STOP error message? Many times, a STOP error appears due to newly installed hardware, software or device driver. However, it may also appear due to unexpected system shutdown, power failure, virus infection, system malfunction, and more.

Resolution: Troubleshooting methods to resolve the issue:

The STOP error might be a fluke. To verify, restart the system and check whether it appears again. If you just installed a hardware, program, or a driver, then remove or disable all of them and then reboot your system. If this does not work, then start your system with “Last Known Good Configuration”. Use “System Restore” to undo recent changes. Perform a complete scan of your system using an anti-virus software. Check system's RAM ( random access memory). Update the drivers for the hardware. Restore BIOS to its default settings.

Following these measures, would resolve the issue in most of the cases. However, if the problem persists, then a clean re-install of operating system is required. However, this measure makes you lose all your data from the primary partition after re-installing the operating system. And if the hard drive data is highly important, you would definitely want to recover it. For this, a high-quality Hard Disk Recovery application is required. These tools are specially designed for Disk Recovery and restore the hard drive data safely and completely. Being non-destructive in nature, these applications are simple to use and understand.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery Software does wonders as it recovers all the lost, missing or inaccessible data in all the logical data loss scenarios.
