Resolving Ci.dll BSOD in Windows Vista

Ci.dll file in Windows Vista operating system is a BHO (Browser Helper Object) stored in C:\Windows\System32 folder. This file executes automatically when a user starts the Internet browser. These BHOs can get corrupt due to virus attack, or, due to an incomplete update of Windows vista operating system. In any of the above scenario, the user encounters a BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) error message. This error message halts the booting process of Windows Vista, rendering to inaccessibility of data saved in the hard drive. To access the data saved in such situations, the user needs to, restore data from a backup, run CHKDSK command, or use commercial Data Recovery solutions.

Consider, you encounter the below Ci.dll BSOD error message when you attempt to boot your system:

“Stop: 0x000000E3 (0x80614DC0, 0x84838808, 0x00000000, 0x00000002) C1.dll - Address 80614DC0 base at 8054A000, datestamp 4549bd95”

The error message pops up on a blue screen that appears during the booting process. This process halts the booting process and does not allow you to access the hard drive data.

Cause:

The above STOP error message appears when Ci.dll file is corrupted.

Resolution:

To resolve the above error message and to access the hard drive data, you will need to:

Enter into safe mode and uninstall any new program. Use “Startup Repair” option to resolve the booting problems. If the problem continues, then format your hard drive and re-install Windows Vista operating system.

The last option guarantees complete resolution from the above problem. However, the resolution also has a disadvantage of erasing all the data saved on the Windows based hard drive. In such cases, the erased hard drive data can only be recovered using an advanced Data Recovery Software.

A data recovery tools uses advanced scanning and recovery procedures to recover deleted data after hard drive formatting. The recovered data can be saved on any storage media.

Windows Data Recovery is an amazing tool to recover formatted data and restore it at user-specified location. The Data Recovery Software supports FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, VFAT , NTFS and NTFS5 file systems. Compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2003, and 2000, the tool embeds advance options, like hard drive cloning, disk imaging, raw recovery, and more.

Follow up on data recovery
Well,

That's an interesting article.

Although well written from a technical standpoint, the advice offered is a bit slim. Let's expand on that point.

If you've suffered the above error or for that matter almost any Windows Stop Error, you are suffering from a logical error.

Most logical errors do not significantly damage data, they simply render it inaccessible as the computer will not boot.

There are two simple solutions to most logical problems. First, move the drive into an enclosure, connect it to a different computer, scan it for viruses and simply copy your data off the drive.

If that doesn't work, you may need assistance in getting your data recovered but relax, on of central Canada's best recovery boutiques offers free advice on how to do it yourself if you're on a tight budget. If you can't get it, can't afford the risk or don't mind paying a few hundred bucks for your data you can simply hit the contact section of their site to send a drive in for professional recovery.

Hope this helps some of your users.
