Recovering Damaged NTFS Partitions From External Windows Hard Drive

Are you unable to access an external NTFS file system formatted hard drive on Microsoft Windows XP computer? Does Windows XP show your drive as corrupted and unreadable? Well, the problem may occur if your hard drive is having corrupt data structures or disk structure. In such cases, Windows cannot locate the hard drive partitions and stored data. This behavior of Microsoft Windows operating system leads to significant data loss. In order to get your lost partitions recovered in such cases, you need to opt for NTFS Data Recovery software.

In a practical scenario of this problem, when you try to access an NTFS formatted hard drive, the drive is displayed as corrupted. At the same time, you may come across the below error message:

“<drive letter>:\ is not accessible. The parameter is incorrect.”

This behavior occurs on the drives, which have no boot partition. It renders the drive inaccessible. When you check the drive properties, the file system is displayed as RAW. If you run the Chkdsk command-line utility on the drive to check its integrity and consistency, you receive the following error message:

“The type of the file system is NTFS. Warning! F parameter not specified. Running chkdsk in read only mode. Corrupt master file table. Chkdsk aborted.”

When you get into the Disk Management, you can see your drive and all of its properties, including Layout, Type, File System, Status, Capacity, Free Space, and Fault Tolerance.

Cause of the problem

You may come across this problem due to damaged file system, corrupt master file table, or damaged disk structure. These problems may occur due to a plenty of reasons, such as virus infection, unexpected system shutdown, user mistakes, and more.

Resolution

In order to work around this problem, you need to replace the damaged file system and other data structures of your hard drive with new ones. It is possible through hard drive formatting. Although, formatting the hard drive fixes most of the hard drive problems, but it also removes all the hard drive partitions and stored data. In such cases, need of NTFS Data Recovery arises.

NTFS Partition Recovery is best possible using powerful and advanced third-party applications, known as NTFS File Recovery software. The applications ensure absolute recovery in all cases of NTFS partition loss, using advanced scanning techniques. With interactive design and non-destructive behavior, they are totally safe and easy to use.

NTFS Data Recovery software recovers lost, missing, deleted, and inaccessible NTFS file system partitions. The software successfully recovers lost NTFS5 and NTFS file system partitions. It is designed for Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, 2003, XP, and 2000.
