Recovering the Hard-Deleted Files

I believe most of you, like me that is, have gone through the pain of losing your valuable files and folders while using your computer system. There could be several reasons for this kind of lapse such as emptying the Recycle Bin, hard-deleting the files, deleting files from the DOS prompt, having virus infections, shutting down the system abruptly, etc. Sometimes, you may not have the backup copy of such files, which makes it even more pressing to undelete files.

Consider a scenario wherein you are working on your college project report. Now, when you are through with the documentation, you shift-delete a not so required file. After deleting these files, you realize that there was a file that you required for the report. And now, you end up cursing your habit of shift-deleting every file that comes your way.

You are sure that all your hard work has turned into a crap because of a silly mistake. Now you will think that have to create that document again. However, this is not the case. You can still recover the deleted file because it is still there in your system. The secret is there in the subsequent section, read on...

When a file is deleted from a Windows system, it is removed from the file system database. But that does not mean that the file is lost forever. Instead, when a file is deleted Windows makes a note that the space reserved by the deleted file is now available for a new file. Unless a new file is created and saved at that exact location where the deleted file was stored, it is there.

In fact, depending upon how many sectors the file occupied, some parts of the file can exist for a long time. So, if you have not created (or downloaded) many files after hard-deleting the file, there is quite a good chance that you will be able to recover the file. For this, however, you will need a third-party undelete files application that will enable you to undelete Windows files and folders. These highly interactive tools are read-only in nature and do not overwrite the file system.

File Recovery Software enables you to undelete files from FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, and NTFS5 file systems. It is able to recover deleted files from external hard drives, memory cards, zip drives, and USB drives.

In addition, it is able to undelete PST and DBX files. It is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, Server 2003, XP, and 2000. Besides this, it has the SMART (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology) feature that displays the overall hard drive statistics.
