How to Rectify Errors "Eseutil/mh" Utility by EDB Recovery?

Microsoft Exchange Server uses a utility known as Eseutil/mh. Eseutil /mh utility is used to check the state of an Exchange database. It recognizes whether the last done shutdown was dirty or clean. With the help of a Eseutil /mh utility, you can perform disaster recovery. In this recovery, you check whether eseutil /p has already been run or not. However, under some circumstances, you become fail to execute eseutil/mh properly. Due to this, data of the Exchange Server becomes unapproachable. To overcome critical data loss problem, you need to rush for a third party EDB Recovery utility.

For further clarification of above topic, let us consider a realistic scenario. When you dismount a database and make an attempt to execute eseutil/mh utility. You fail to do so, and receives an error message that goes like:

“[PS] C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\v14\bin>eseutil /mh "c:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\v14\Mail box\Mailbox Database 1410428987.edb"

Extensible Storage Engine Utilities for Microsoft(R) Exchange Server Version 14.01 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All Rights Reserved.

Initiating FILE DUMP mode... Error: Access to source database 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\v14\Mailbox\Mailbox Database 1410428987.edb ' failed with Jet error -1811.

Operation terminated with error -1811 (JET_errFileNotFound, File not found) after 0.16 seconds”

To overcome such error message, first you have to find out the cause.

Cause:

Above error message is caused because of corrupt Exchange Server database. Database gets corrupt due to fatal virus attack, application error, improper shutdown of system, and missing log file. Solution:

Re: EDB recovery
Good Exchange server database backup always helps to solve all Exchange server critical situations. Although the built-in utilities allow the users to solve most of the errors of Exchange database corruption. However, it is necessary to understand the repair process of ESE utilities as it remove the damaged databases pages and users have to face data loss situations of important data.

This data loss problem can be avoided only by using a third party Exchange server recovery application such as this one: http://www.recover-computerdata.com/exchange-server-recovery.html

This application scans the damaged database file item by item and repairs the corrupted items. After repairing the database items it gives the option to save data in two formats. User can save it either in .PST or in .EDB file format. Repaired edb file can be directly mounted on the MS Exchange Server. Software is compatible with all versions of MS Exchange Server i.e. 2010, 2007, 2003, 2000, and 5.5.
