Detailed tutorial on DDNS setting for IP camera

As you know, accessing an IP camera depends on the IP address from your internet. In case you would like to control your IP camera remotely by a dynamic IP, DDNS (dynamic DNS address) setting up is quite necessary for you. That is to say, there will be an random new IP needed each time your IP camera connected. By DDNS setting service, your IP address will indentified as a fixed address start with “http://yourname”.For example, your ip from ISP is http://65.5.7.86:5080,by DDNS setting, you can define your ip as http://kathiny123.dyndns.org which is another name match with your IP address. Therefore, your IP camera can be viewed anywhere by visiting http://kathiny123.dyndns.org: 5080.

Frankly, DDNS service is no longer free since last year, you need to pay $29.99 annually. Just a small budget well worth it,in my opinion. Please note: DDNS setting is not needed for static IP address from internet connection. The steps are shown below 1. Enter Dynamic Network Services official site dynds and create your account and log in. Then you can log in to dynds.com anytime you need. 2. Then start by a Free domain name setting up. Your user name and password and host name should be correctly recorded. 3. You need to follow these steps in the newly opened Dynamic DNS Host screen. First, create a prefix, then choose from the dropdown box for your desired domain name. Then your IP address will automatically detected by the site, after that, you can leave the page. For other fields, just leave them blank. Finally, press "Add Host". 4. Please note that some DDNS service including dyndns.org may need you to log in the site periodically to reactive your account due to the wrong setting up for your initial IP.If this occurs, you need to find your initial IP and log back to dyndns.org and click Host Services to select your Host then enter your current IP address and save it. Now that your dynamic DNS service has been setup, you should configure your router switch to automatically update the dynamic DNS service each time your Internet connection's IP address changes. You can also test this by typing in your hostname into the browser and adding your cameras respective port at the end to access it.
