Kernel Panic and Disk Verification Failure in Mac OS X

In Mac OS X operating system, an interface between the actual data process at hardware level and applications is provided by Kernel. It is the core component of Mac OS X and other UNIX-like operating systems. The central component also manages the system resources and interaction between them. However, in some situations, you may come across kernel panic when your system fails to recover from internal fatal errors.

In such situations, you can try using the Disk Utility to sort out the problem. But, the problem is severe and the disk is totally damaged, Disk Utility may fail to work and you face data loss situations. At this point, need of Mac Data Recovery arises for successful retrieval of your mission-critical data.

In a practical scenario, you may come across the below error message, when you attempt to verify the Mac OS X hard drive using Disk Utility after repairing the permissions followed by various kernel panics:

“The underlying task reported failure on exit.”

Additionally, you may see the below entries in Application Event Log of Disk Utility program:

“Volume Header needs minor repair

The volume <volume name> needs to be repaired.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

Disk Utility stopped verifying <volume name> because the following error was encountered:

The underlying task reported failure on exit

1 HFS volume checked

Volume needs repair”

After the above error message, disk checking process fails and your Mac OS X hard drive remains inaccessible. To extract data from the drive in such situations, you must understand the reason of this behavior and perform Data Recovery Mac by fixing it.

Root of the problem

The problem occurs if your boot volume is corrupted. Disk Utility cannot repair the hard drive volume, which has Mac OS X operating system installed.

How to fix this problem?

You can sort out this behavior to perform Mac Data Recovery by booting your system using Mac OS X installation disk and then using Disk Utility from it.

If the above process does not work, you need to use File Recovery Mac Software to sort out the problem. The applications are powerful enough to effectively scan whole Mac hard drive and extract all lost data from it. You need not to be technically sound to use these tools, as they have simple and interactive graphical user interface.

Stellar Phoenix Macintosh Data Recovery software recovers lost, missing, inaccessible, and deleted data from all Mac-supported storage devices. It is compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, 10.5 Leopard, 10.4 Tiger, and 10.3.9 Panther. The software salvages data from HFS, HFS+, HFSX, HFS Wrapper, and FAT file system volumes.

Fix Kernel Panic in Mac OS
I believe that the Kernel Panic in Mac operating system occurs due to various reaosns like Failure of system or Battery, Low- level recovery for Smart Media and Memory Stick etc. In that kind of situation, it is essential to use any 3rd party Mac File Recovery software to fix this particular problem.
