How to Undelete Mac Files From Mac OS X Hard Drive?

All your data, that you save on your Mac OS X hard drive is saved in the form of files. The type and format of the file depends upon the application that you are using to create particular file. You can organize and manage files by storing similar types in a folder, also called directory. If there are any unwanted files on your Mac hard drive, you can easily remove them. However, in some cases, you may mistakenly delete any important data from your hard drive and Trash Bin as well. This behavior leads to serious data loss situations and you need Mac undelete software to retrieve the deleted data if there is no backup in place.

When a new file is created on Mac OS X computer, Mac assigns disk space for its storage. At the time of creation, an entry is made.It is a data structure, works as a database, for storing, organizing, accessing, and manipulating the files on hard drive. The file system entry contains all related information, such as name, storage location, file type, and file size. When you remove a file from Mac hard drive, only the system entry is deleted.

If you simply delete a file using Delete button of your keyboard, it is moved to Trash Bin folder. Trash Bin is a directory that stores all the deleted files and folder on Mac computer. You can easily restore it from this directory on its original storage location.

However, in case you delete a file by bypassing the Trash Bin folder or empty Trash Bin, it is not possible to restore the file. The file is removed from your hard drive and become invisible. In such cases, you can undelete Mac by restoring the deleted files from most recent backup.
