Hard Drive Partition Unbootable Post File System Corruption

A file system error message on a Linux-based computer system occurs when the file system gets corrupted. The corruption may be due to improper system shutdown, superblock corruption, operating system malfunction, application crash, and virus infection. The system becomes unbootable after any such file system error message appears on the screen. In such cases, the data saved in the hard drive becomes inaccessible. To access the data after a file system error message pops up, an easy option is to restore the data from an updated backup. However, if the backup is not available or falls short of restoring the required data, then the user needs to search for an effective third-party Linux Data Recovery software.

To explain file system corruption in detail, consider the below error message:

“du -x du: WARNING: Circular directory structure. This almost certainly means that you have a corrupted file system. NOTIFY YOUR SYSTEM MANAGER. The following directory is part of the cycle: `./mnt/root’”

The error message appears at the time of booting of your system. Once it appears, the data saved in the hard drive becomes inaccessible. Furthermore, the same error message pops up every time you attempt to boot your system.

Resolution:

To resolve corruption in file system and to access the data saved in the hard drive partition:

Run FSCK command to repair the corrupted file system.

If the command is unable to repair the file system, then re-install the operating system.

Re-installing the operating system will resolve any corruption issue related to file system. It also allows the user to store new data on your hard drive. However, re-installing also has a disadvantage. It erases the entries of previous file system and makes all the data inaccessible. To recover this data, the user needs to opt for a Linux Recovery tool.

A Data Recovery Linux utility employs high-end scanning methods to recover lost files, even after reinstalling the operating system. The software can be used by any user, irrespective whether s/he has performed data recovery.

Stellar Phoenix Linux Data Recovery recoups formatted files (of any type and size) and restores it at location selected by you. Compatible with Ext4, Ext3, Ext2, FAT file systems, the read-only Linux Data Recovery tool supports Ubuntu, SUSE, SlackWare, Mandrake, Gentoo, and other Linux distributions. The tool is easy to understand and does not requires any technical knowledge
