In the Windows systems, the registry hive is a system file that contains the keys, subkeys, or values of the registry in the system. For each user profile, a separate registry hive is created by the operating system, which is called the 'user profile hive'. Sometimes the user registry hive becomes corrupt due to hard disk corruption, virus infections, abrupt or unplanned system shutdown, etc.
In such cases, you would not be able to start the system and have to look out for ways to fix the registry problem and recover Windows data. If you are unable to address the problem, then you should use a third-party
windows data recovery software to solve the issue.
Consider a situation in which you are unable to start Windows 2000 system as it is displaying the following error message at startup:
