File System Corruption Issues- Lost Clusters and Cross-Linked Files

Are you getting errors while performing regular file system scan on NTFS file system partition of your Windows hard drive? Is your hard drive partition inaccessible and unusable? This behavior generally occurs due to cross-linked files, lost clusters, and file system corruption like problems. In some cases, the hard drive may work properly, but you cannot extract data from some of the partitions or some files/folders. In case hard drive itself is damaged, its contents appear to be scrambled. This behavior renders all NTFS file system partitions unusable and leads to partition loss situations. In order to recover lost partitions in such cases, NTFS partition recovery becomes need of hour.

Diagnose file system, hard drive, cross-linked files, and lost cluster issues:
A small amount of file system related issues are pretty normal and occur on almost every computer system, depending upon the version of Windows operating system and file system you are using. Particularly, lost clusters are quite common because when a system shuts down improperly or application crashes, it might leave partial files behind that are displayed like lost clusters as files are not properly completed. But, large amounts of cross-linked files and lost clusters may indicate severe problems, and may require NTFS data recovery to be fixed, in some situations.

Resolution:
You can try out the below methods to sort out this behavior- Thoroughly scan Windows hard drive for viruses using an updated and powerful anti-virus application.
Check the hard drive integrity and consistency using Chkdsk.exe utility.
If you are facing this issue after installing any software or hardware, try removing it. It can be due to incompatibility of the hardware resource or application program.
Always shut your system down properly.
Make sure you do no have resource conflicts and instability issues with the installation of Windows operating system.
When none of the above methods work, you might be having real problems with hard drive. There are repeated file system issues, which are making your system unusable. In such situations, hard drive formatting and operating system re-installation is required.

Although, formatting can fix most of the hard drive related problems, but it also removes all the disk partitions. In such cases, NTFS file recovery becomes essential to recover lost files from deleted partitions. NTFS partition recovery is best possible using advanced and efficient third-party data recovery applications.
Stellar Phoenix NTFS Data Recovery is the best data recovery software ever made to effectively recover lost Windows hard drive partitions. The software recovers NTFS5 and NTFS file system partitions, along with stored data. It is compatible with Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, 2003, XP, and 2000
