Reporting For The Web With DataVision
This is an article giving an introduction to the open-source reporting writing package DataVision, with a focus on integrating it into a web application for displaying reports in a browser. A sample webapp is included that demonstrates the concepts discussed in the article. DataVision is a Java-based reporting package written by Jim Menard. It has a Swing-based report writing tool, uses iText underneath to generate PDFs most commonly (among other output formats), and is about as simple to use as I could hope for.
