Service-oriented architectures (SOAs) are going to change everything. From software architecture to development to deployment, over the next few years SOAs will have a bigger impact than most modern paradigm shifts. It'll be bigger than the shift to the Web, and more analogous in scale to the changes wrought by the shift to client/server and n-tiered architectures.
